Johannesburg which is popularly known as Jo’burg is a beautiful place to be. Being home to one of the most famous icons in a fight for freedom in history, there is so much that you can see and do without breaking the bank.

The public transport system is reliable and their tons of flights getting to the O.R Tambo International Airport which serves the city. 

 

  • Visit the Montecasino Bird Garden

For the bird lovers, this is a paradise where you take breathtaking walks as you enjoy the views. There are more than 60 bird species that include the bright pink scarlet ibises. Besides the exotic birds, Montecasino Bird Garden is home to lemurs, world’s longest snake, a frog room, lorikeets, sloths, and a cycad garden. One of the highlights in the garden is the bird show. 

 

  • Hike the Hennops 

If you are a nature lover, then you would enjoy being on the Hennops Hiking Trail.  One interesting thing about this hiking trail is that you can enjoy the walk as a family reason being there is a kid-friendly trail.

 

The scenic views include but not limited to rocky plateaus, grasslands, lush river-side gorges, and giant aloes. At the end of the trip, hikers can enjoy a refreshing dip at the swimming pool. 

 

  • Go Sightseeing 

 

The best way to experience Johannesburg is going sightseeing. Have spectacular views of the city and the surroundings when you climb to the top of the Carlton Center. The country is known for the Apartheid period and you can learn more about this at the Apartheid museum.

For the automotive lovers, the visit to James Hall Transport Museum will be a rare treat. 

 

  • Visit the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens 

 

An area with interesting geology, a visit to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden is a must. This nature reserve gives you a perfect chance to enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer. At the top of the waterfall, you will have an amazing view of the sprawling lawns below.

Once here which is a perfect place for picnics, you will understand the reason it’s one of the country’s best botanical gardens.

If you are a craft beer lover, you should visit the Mad Giant in Johannesburg. At its urbanology restaurant, you will be served with craft beers that are paired with Asian influenced tapas. What you are served plus the design of the Mad Giant makes it worth the visit.
